visitors. The city is located 185 miles north of Los Angeles and 225 miles south
of San Francisco at the junction of Freeway 99 and Highway 198, and only hours

Visalia Municipal Airport operates at the junction of Freeway 198 and can
accommodate all types of general aviation aircraft. United Express Airlines
presently serves the area, providing nonstop flights daily to Los Angeles
International Airport. In addition, Visalia is located midway between two major
air terminals, Fresno and Bakersfield, with affordable airport shuttle service
between the two airports and Visalia.
Besides its convenience to other parts of the state, Visalia is the gateway to
the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and is one of the most dramatic
landscapes in North America. At 14,494 feet in elevation, the summit of Mount
Whitney, on Sequoia's eastern boundary, is the tallest peak in the continental
United States. The majestic Giant Sequoia trees, reaching heights of 311 feet,
as well as the beautiful panoramas of lakes, evergreens, meadows and wildlife
throughout the Sequoia National Forest and Sequoia & Kings Canyon National
Parks, are just an hour's scenic drive from downtown Visalia.
